Does industrial agglomeration affect the regional environment? Evidence from Chinese cities
Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 29, 7811–7826
This study examines the impact of industrial agglomeration on the regional environment using panel data from 13 cities in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region between 1998 and 2018. It identifies spatial autocorrelation in pollution levels, with manufacturing agglomeration worsening pollution, service agglomeration mitigating it, and synergistic agglomeration following an inverted U-shaped relationship with environmental pollution.
