This study examines the impact of industrial agglomeration on the regional environment using panel data from 13 cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region (1998–2018). Results reveal spatial autocorrelation in pollution levels, with manufacturing agglomeration worsening pollution, service agglomeration mitigating it, and synergistic agglomeration exhibiting an inverted U-shaped relationship with environmental pollution.

This study investigates the relationship between environmental regulation and economic growth using panel data from 13 cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region (2003–2018). Results reveal an inverted U-shaped relationship, where the Porter hypothesis and compliance cost hypothesis dominate at different regulation intensities. Energy intensity and industrial structure are identified as key transmission mechanisms.
